With more entrants (129) and public voting (16,548) than ever before, Pioneer DJ Search 2010 attracted a greater diversity of DJs, ranging from hardcore and trance to commercial and vocal house. 2010 proved to be the most difficult year for competition judges. They say the cream always rises to the top and in the case of Pioneer DJ Search 2010, the likes of Syme Tollens, B-Tech, Mahatia, DJ Sorceress, Nik Import, Jay Kay, Quett Lai, Cam Woodard and the loveable Smokin Joe, all were responsible for taking this competition to the next level. However, there can only be one winner and Petar Djolic (DJ Olic) was crowned the 2010 Pioneer DJ Search winner.
"Pioneer DJ Search exposed a passionate, talented and committed community of aspiring professional DJs around the country. After finishing 'runners-up' in Pioneer 2009, Olic returned to the competition with a greater resolve, including a new sound, which saw him earn plenty of praise from his peers. At the tender age of 15 yrs old, Olic’s love for house music was born and it was only a matter of time before he made the transition from club promoter to DJ by the age of 20.
With local residential gigs in Sydney at The Lincoln and Sapphire, as well as regular guest spots in other clubs, 2010 is proving to be a break-out year for Olic, who embarked on his first set of international gigs earlier in the year, including Manchester (UK), Germany and Serbia. Describing his own sound as a blend of big room and progressive house with a touch of Techno house, Olic's journey as a Pioneer DJ Ambassador is one to watch over the coming twelve months. "It's a dream come true to be representing a world leader in DJ weaponry. The next 12 months are very important for me. I will remain focused on representing the brand (Pioneer) and showcasing my talents. I cannot wait for the journey to begin" says Olic. Pioneer DJ Search is an annual DJ competition run in association with DJ community website MyDJSpace.
