Biography

From the humble beginnings of mixing music via PC and burning CD’s for her peers Monique has had a passion for music as far back as she can remember, always getting in trouble for not taking her headphones off in class and supposedly not listening, yet she was, only to what sounds were in her headphones. Slowly but surely she then got her teachers into exchanging music with her and her taste in music soon expanded beyond the internet, TV and radio charts. Endless nights of staying up late to find that new song or sound, Monique was always destined to follow what are to be the sounds that encapsulate her headphones whether they be Michael Jackson, The Red Hot Chili Peppers or even 2Pac. It was when she was handed some Ministry Of Sound CDs that sparked her burning desire to pursuer the likes of one day becoming a DJ. Dawn of the DJ: It was not soon after she left school that she got lucky and scored herself a pair of CDJ’s and a basic 2 channel mixer from a friend that helped channel her desire to follow her passion for music and pursuer DJing. Armed with the basic equipment, she used all her time behind the decks to hone her skills and find that next drop that will bomb any dance floor big or small, from being the bedroom banger to playing at the occasionally party or function Monique has been building herself a name amongst peers and making her own work in the mobile DJing circuit to make upgrades to equipment whilst taking steps to become closer to her aspiring ambition to one day play in a club environment. After investing in a pair of Turntables Monique discovered the glory of vinyl and hasn’t looked back and is forever a die hard vinyl lover, Endless hours in record stores and a mass collection of wax later she has met some people in and around the scene and been lucky to gain good friendships and mentors with the likes of Murray Brown, Kieron C, LenOne, Unda Dwella, Baby Gee, Nick Galea, Monty G & Numeric just to name a few. Blending the flavors of house, vocal, trance & Progressive, spinning various RnB/Hip Hop and rap tracks and playing the usual top 40 songs at parties, it is on the dance floor where the club-heads lye that Monique’s passion is in the underground scene where her biggest influences of sound are truly heard with the big room sounds of Pryda, Deadmau5, Steve Angello, Axwell, and many more to name. Monique’s sets are infused with a mind F**k of blender bending powerhouse sounds of progressive melodies. Transcending trance, hypnotic rhythms of house, plenty of party anthems to boot and her sets are always full of bass heavy, body grinding, bomb dropping stomping beats. She will make you rise and fall with her sets and go beyond to discover the undiscovered, her sound may shine but it will illuminate a dance floor. 2010 is set to be the year for this up and coming homegrown bedroom banging Brisbane DJ.
